We started with the yellowtail and Baby Gem salad. The yellowtail brought freshness and precision. The salad was crisp, bright, and exactly the right opening before a pasta heavy dinner.
Our friends appreciate a strong wine list as much as we do, so we covered both directions with a crisp Gavi and a Tuscan red.
Then came the real reason for the return: pasta.
Scarpetta’s pastas are polished and beautifully executed, but they still feel deeply comforting. The restaurant makes its pasta in house, and that attention comes through in every plate. Nothing feels overworked. The flavors are clear. The technique stays in the background.

Is the Dover Sole at Scarpetta Worth Ordering?
Yes.
After the pasta, the Dover sole for two was the right move. It was delicate, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. This is the kind of classic dish that does not need reinvention when the kitchen gets the fundamentals right.
We added the Romanesco cauliflower and broccolini. The cauliflower is always a must for us. Both sides balanced the meal and kept the table moving.
In true foodie fashion, everyone shared everything.
What Should You Order for Dessert?
We somehow found room for both the Espresso Budino and the Mascarpone Cheesecake.
Let’s be honest. We always do.
The Espresso Budino delivered the richer finish. The cheesecake brought a lighter contrast. Ordering both removed the need to choose and gave the table one final reason to stay.

Scarpetta proves that a restaurant does not need to be new to feel relevant.
